The Service Line Information Tool (SLIT) is a web-based information tool developed by Environmental Engineering & Technology to aid utilities in managing and maintaining service lines.  SLIT is for informational purposes only and a professional should be consulted prior to the application of any information provided in the program.  The design of the information tool enables users to navigate through service line maintenance information by selecting only the information that is relevant to the user.  The program allows the user to select from one of four major areas of service line maintenance. The major areas are as follows: 

1. Information on assessing the condition of service lines, which includes several condition assessment procedures and  information on latest leak detection options
2. Methods for repairing/replacing leaking service lines
3. Service line installation guidelines, which include trenching guidelines and alternatives
4. Information pertaining to service line insurance and protection program, which includes implementation procedures, determining the scope of the program, and program operations

Within each area, the program provides information on the latest technologies as well as on traditional and alternative service line maintenance options.  The user can easily navigate and gather information within any of the four major areas.
