EE&T - WATER PLANT WASTE MANAGEMENT
PREPARATION OF HANDBOOK OF
PRACTICE FOR
WATER PLANT WASTE MANAGEMENT
The AWWA Research Foundation
selected EE&T to prepare a state-of-the-art design and applications
handbook for waste management. To prepare the handbook, EE&T worked
with utilities throughout the country to document performance and cost
of various mechanical and nonmechanical dewatering systems. The Handbook
covers alum, iron, lime, residuals, as well as brines, spent granular
activated carbon, adsorbent materials and filter backwash water.
The Handbook consist of the
following sections:
-
Pilot Studies
-
Residual Thickening
-
Conditioning
-
Pumping
-
Mechanical Dewatering
-
Nonmechanical
-
Lagoons
-
Landfill
-
Land Application
-
Co-disposal
-
Direct Discharge
In all cases the emphasis is
on how to properly test, design and cost the applicable system.
